Michael Jackson Dies?

There are some people you just never expect to die. Or not that you don't expect it, because, after all, everyone dies. But you just don't think about it. I don't think I ever expected Michael Jackson to die. Love him or hate him - and I'll be honest, I haven't always been the biggest fan - I don't think I ever imagined him to be, well, mortal. As of this moment, 7:05 p.m. est, CNN can only confirm he is in a coma. But I'm inclined to think he is dead. If the LA Times is willing to go out on that limb, then there must be something to it.
TMZ and Twitter first "broke" the story - if it can be called that. Twitter is certainly not a news outlet in the traditional sense - and if we get down to it, TMZ is anything but traditional. Despite the news of a pop icon's death being sad and monumental in it's own right, when the smoke clears I think it is also going to go down in history as the first big story broken by Twitter and the virtual world. When we look at this on top of the way the internet has been responsible for so much, if not all, of the Iran Election turmoil, today is a turning point in the world of news and information. Good or bad, things will never be the same.
